TERZO MONDO is the third album from NASTRO

NASTRO are Manuel Cascone and Francesco Petricca

Manuel Cascone and Francesco Petricca have played percussions, kalimba, synthesizers, sequencers, flute and something else.

TERZO MONDO (Third World for the ones unfamiliar with italian) was recorded in roughly five months, after researches and several attempts to give a follow up to 300mq (UDR08 - 2012), a mix of fractions of sound recorded, chopped, chewed, sampled and put in fermentation.

The solution in the end went for the abandoning of the multitrack recordings for a sound that is dry, dehydrated, just MONO, ten live sessions captured on an ideal support coherent with the title of the album they have delivered.

What comes out is border music; sitting comfortably by the window of our browser we can see banana pickers crowding the streets of the Pontine Marshes riding their bicycles, voodoo sessions at the sound of a modular synthesizer, and at the same time caress the ears with the squelching frequencies of the iPhone speaker, cos this is our third eye-ear.

Imagine if "Faust Tapes" era Faust were a duo produced by James Ferraro to get an idea of what it might sound like.

Mastered by Andrea Merlini (mastering engineer for Heroin in Tahiti, TheAwayTeam etc.)

I NASTRO sono Manuel Cascone e Francesco Petricca

Manuel Cascone e Francesco Petricca hanno suonato percussioni, calimba, sintetizzatori, sequencer, flauti e dell'altro.

TERZO MONDO è stato registrato in circa cinque mesi, dopo una lunga serie di ricerche e tentativi per dare un seguito a 300mq (UDR08 - 2012), un frullato di frazioni sonore registrate, masticate, campionate e messe a lievitare.

La soluzione definitiva è stata optare per l'abbandono delle registrazione in multi-traccia e passare ad un suono asciutto, meglio dire disidratato, semplicemente MONO, sessioni catturate in presa diretta su un supporto coerente con il titolo dell'album che stava prendendo forma.

Spuntano così delle musiche di confine; comodamente seduti alla finestra del nostro browser scorgiamo raccoglitori di banane affollare le strade dell'Agro Pontino in sella ai loro cicli, sedute di woodoo al ritmo di un sintetizzatore modulare, e al contempo massaggiamo l'udito con le frequenze urticanti dello speaker dell' iPhone, perche è questo il nostro terzo occhio-orecchio.
Come se i Faust dell'era "Faust Tapes" entrassero in studio prodotti da James Ferraro, giusto per farsi un idea.
